HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ROLE AT LAIKA?

I get to match incredibly talented individuals with roles where they can truly shine and grow!

WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING IN THE RECRUITING DEPARTMENT AT LAIKA?

I love working with this group! Their dedication to fostering growth and diversity at LAIKA is a daily inspiration for me.

My team makes me feel valued by offering encouragement and support. While Imposter Syndrome can be a real challenge, having a supportive team that reassures me of my significance and acknowledges the value of my thoughts greatly contributes to my sense of professional worth.

Being able to rely on our fellow LAIKAns for support is incredibly valuable. When I feel overwhelmed, I find solace in knowing that I can lean on my team for support, and that I'm not alone in facing challenges.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WORKDAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

I don't really have a typical workday; each day presents its own set of surprises and challenges. Generally speaking, I dedicate my time to sourcing talent, reviewing reels and portfolios, and collaborating with hiring managers to ensure alignment throughout the recruiting process.

WHAT DO YOU MOST ENJOY ABOUT WORKING AT LAIKA?

LAIKA films are a labor of love, and witnessing everyone's hard work and dedication come to life on the stages is truly inspiring. The creative problem-solving that happens behind the scenes never ceases to amaze me.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE WORKPLACE CULTURE HERE?

I feel valued and supported in my professional growth and well-being. The encouragement of collaboration and teamwork creates an environment where diversity is celebrated — a crucial element for a story-driven studio like ours.

ARE YOU ACTIVE WITH ANY EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS OR COMMITTEES AT LAIKA?

I'm one of the Co-Captains of LAIKA's Women ERG. I'm thrilled to be part of a group that provides a space for women and folks from marginalized gender communities to share experiences, engage in community events, and address gender-related issues. Additionally, it serves as a platform to spotlight the remarkable women at LAIKA and in our broader community.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE CONSIDERING A CAREER AT LAIKA?

A “no” now doesn't necessarily mean “no” forever. Timing can be everything. Keep honing your craft, ensure your resume and portfolio stay current, and keep in touch.
