In Our Community
In Our Community

We are a caring community. We care about our neighbors, the environment, our pets. We volunteer. We give back.

Our community outreach program, called Soul Corps, provides financial and volunteer assistance to local nonprofits that directly support arts education and community enrichment where we live and work.

When employees give to their organization of choice, LAIKA also gives, by matching financial donations of up to $100 per employee every year. We reimburse employees' race entrance fees when the race raises funds for a not-for-profit organization. And, to encourage employees to volunteer, when employees donate their time, LAIKA provides additional financial contributions to the nonprofits and in certain situations, matches employee paid time off, allowing us to give back in other ways.

Our sustainability program, Gang Green, promotes ecology within the studio and around our neighborhoods. We support local sustainable businesses and give back to organizations that promote conservation. Our extensive recycling program includes composting and recycling of lumber products, paper, glass, plastics – including plastic bags and rigid plastic products – aluminum and Styrofoam. We encourage employees to conserve and recycle wherever possible. Past conservation activities at the studio include the green exchange contest, where employees bring in challenging recyclable items; we also hold employee recycled art competitions.

The studio provides employees with incentives to use public transportation and Rideshare, where we service two vans for commuting. To increase alternative transportation awareness and participation, we have monthly contests for employees who ride bikes or walk when commuting to work. We subsidize employee transit passes and provide incentives for those carpooling with three or more employees. We also own loaner bikes for employees to use during their work day.

Art In The Canteen
Art In The Canteen installations highlight work created by LAIKA employees. Currently, we feature the art by lead model maker Keith McQueen(slides 1-2).
School Lunch Program
Our periodic School Lunch program provides an environment for all employees to learn more about the complicated, collaborative and interdependent techniques we use to make stop-motion features.
